Due to worsening conditions with the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are currently suspending training of new volunteers. Thank you for your interest and patience in these trying times. There are still many ways to help the shelter, such as having donation drives, creating pictures or art of adoptable animals you see online, or getting the word out about adoptable animals at the shelter (all adoptable animals can be found on our petfinder.com page). We hope to be able to train new volunteers soon, so please stay posted! Links to volunteer applications will be up again when it is safe to do so. Stay happy, healthy and safe!

Make a Difference, be a Shelter Volunteer!

Volunteers are the life blood of HOKAFI. Without each and every volunteer committing their time to care for our shelter residents we could not do what we do on a daily basis, 24/7, 365 days a year for the special dogs and cats at HOKAFI.

Top ten reasons to volunteer at the shelter

  • Help abused and unwanted animals get loving homes!
  • Brush up on your cleaning skills!
  • Being a human love toy to cats and dogs is a great stress reliever!
  • Socialize scared and/or shy cats and dogs!
  • Meet lots of great people!
  • Feels great to know that you CAN make a difference!
  • Takes just a few hours...work around YOUR schedule!
  • Help is needed in all sorts of areas like grounds keeping, and fundraising.
  • Warm fuzzy feeling when a cat and dog you've helped finds their forever home!
  • You are needed and appreciated by humans and animals alike!
